Maria Puetz-Willems is the founder and editor in chief of www.hospitalityInside.com.
In March 2005, the online magazine for the international hotel management was launched. Based in Augsburg, Germany the magazine publishes in two languages (German/English) every Friday, focuses on pure editorial content (no advertisements), geographically on continental Europe. The content is based on own research and background articles. Readers are the executives from the hotel industry (chains and upscale private hotels), banking, project development, consulting etc in 20 countries today. Before taking this big step, Maria Puetz-Willems worked as a freelancer for 16 years. From 1989 to 2005, she contributed to leading hotel trade, economic and lifestyle media in Germany, Switzerland and UK.
She started her career with a classical 2 year traineeship at a small regional newspaper in Germany, followed by 5 years as an editor with the daily paper "Saarbruecker Zeitung" and 2 years with the hotel trade magazine "Top hotel", Germany.
In October 2002, she released her first book "Wellness + Wirtschaft - professionell und profitabel" ("Wellness + Economy - professional and profitable") as publisher and co-author. A second book on "medical spas" is in progress.
Since 2003, she speaks as an expert on wellness at trade fairs and association conferences. For four years (2003-2006) she was a guest speaker on wellness at Salzburg University of Applied Sciences. In 2008 she started to lecture at the University of Applied Sciences, Bad Honnef (for Hospitality Real Estate Management/spa-topics).
In 2004 Maria Puetz-Willems co-organised the 1st "Forum Wellness" at ITB Berlin, the world's largest tourism fair in Berlin. Since 2006 she is responsible for the content development and moderation of the hotel conference "Hospitality Day" at ITB Berlin. At the EXPO REAL 2008 Munich she organised the sessions of the "Hospitality Industry Dialogue" for the first time.

6. To develop a communication process and establish a network to share the findings on the potential of mainstream and niche tourism, targeting key decision makers for development cooperation and tourism development;
Selected Key Reference Projects
1) Development of instruments to assess the economic, social and environ¬mental performance of Sustainable Tourism Products (Community Based Tourism, Ecotourism, SME products);
2) Rapid Appraisal of the Socio-Economic Impact of major All-Inclusive resorts and luxury hotels and identification of ccoperation projects to involve these companies into local economic development and poverty reduction strategies (“Sustainable All-Inclusive – Responsible Luxury”), Main partners Sandals, Coral Hilton, Viva, Ventaclub, Six Senses, Jumeirah, Sun Resorts Mauritius, Kempinski, Orient Express,
3) Development and pilot implementation of schemes for poverty reduction by the hotel industry – design and implementation of a Public Private Partnership Initiative with the Tourism Partnership of IBLF (Prince of Wales International Business Leadership Forum) (members are the major international hotel chains such as Marriott, Intercontinental, Starwood/ Sheraton, Hilton, Rezidor/Radisson SAS, Four Seasons, Fairmont, Taj, Six Senses, Banyan Tree and American Express);
4) Strategy development for comprehensive sustainability standards and certification in tourism, integrating environmental, social/fairtrade and cultural criteria;
5) Cooperation with Six Senses on a comprehensive CSR and sustainability approach for their properties in Vietnam, on the Maldives and in Thailand.
6) Sustainable Destination Partnership Punta Cana/Bayahibe – Dominican Republic with Punta Cana Group – developing a network between main destination stakeholders and international tour operators to improve priority sustainability issues
