Mr. W. Macy Marvel
Professional Experience:
Professor of tourism and economics - Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne, October, 1995 to the present. I teach courses to university-aged students (20-25 years of age) in the areas of tourism, and economics. In addition to my teaching duties, I have completed a federally funded research project concerning brand affiliation criteria for Swiss hotels. I also regularly publish tourism and hospitality industry studies for Travel & Tourism Intelligence/Mintel in London
Vice-President in charge of investment strategy - Société Bancaire Julius Baer, Geneva, December, 1990 - September, 1995. I was charged with defining the investment policy of the bank which included making presentations to the bank's investment committee, and writing the bank's investment policy publications.
Securities analyst - Banque Ferrier Lullin, Geneva, February, 1987 - November, 1990. My task was to analyse North American economies and investment markets for the portfolio managers of the bank, which included making recommendations and presentations to the bank's investment committee, as well as contributing to the bank's investment publications.
Corporate trainer- finance - Digital Equipment, S.A., Geneva. January, 1985 - January, 1987. As a trainer at Digital, I was responsible for running and creating financial training course for Digital Managers. For example, the courses included " Financial Awareness"- a general review of financial topics, and "Revenue Recording Systems", a specific, technical subject.
Auditor - Price, Waterhouse, S.A. , Geneva, July 1983 - December, 1985. I participated in the audit of a diverse group of PW clients in the Geneva area, including multinationals, banks, and international organisations.
Lecturer in finance and accounting - The American College of Switzerland, Leysin, VD., August, 1980- June, 1983. I taught all courses in the area of accounting and finance at the college.
Securities Analyst - The Value Line Survey, New York, N.Y., June, 1979 - June, 1980. I was responsible for analysing and writing reports on companies in several sectors of the U.S. stock market, including transportation, paper and forest products, and building supplies.

Frank Fiskers, 47 and a Danish national, is President & CEO of Scandic Hotels, one of Europe's largest hotel operators. The company currently has 147 hotels in operation and under development in ten countries, and almost 6,000 employees. Scandic is embarking on an aggressive growth strategy with a target of pushing the chain to 200 hotels in few years.
Frank became CEO of Scandic in April 2007 as part of a private equity buy-out. Prior to joining Scandic he was for six years with Hilton as Vice President based in Frankfurt, Stockholm, London and Johannesburg.
Frank was also for a number of years with Rezidor in various senior operational positions - latest as Vice President, Nordic Countries.
Frank Fiskers received his formal education in Copenhagen, Denmark, and has attended various educational programs at Cornell University, London Business School and IMD. |

Jakob Forstnig heads the asset management for the hotel interests of Mountain Capital Ltd.. Mountain Capital is a London based private real estate investor in pubs, hotels and other commercial/residential property. Mountain Capital specialises in repositioning, rebranding and developing hotels across Europe and holds strategic partnerships with hotel operators. During the last three years Mountain Capital has acquired more than 40 hotels with a value exceeding € 800 million with a further € 90 million committed to capital improvements.
Previously Jakob worked in consulting and conducted hotel transaction advisory and turnaround projects in Europe and Central Asia for HVS International’s London office and Treugast Solution Group, Munich, Germany. His hotel operational experience was with Marriott International and other hotels in Europe and the US.
Jakob, a native Austrian, holds a joint MBA from Cranfield University, UK and E.M. Lyon, France and a hotel school degree from Villach, Austria. |

Born and educated in Ireland, Martin has spent his entire working life outside of his native homeland. He has worked in the food industry in a variety of sales, marketing and commercial roles for Golden Vale Foods in the US and Unigate Foods in the UK. He joined Trusthouse Forte hotels in 1988 working in the central marketing departments of both the UK and International divisions. In 1992, he joined Holiday Inn Worldwide as a Marketing Manager responsible for all Corporate and channel marketing programmes. In 1993 he oversaw a major restructuring of the international sales team and relaunched the Corporate Account programme. In 1994 he launched the Priority Club loyalty programme across Europe, Middle East and Africa and established airline alliances with Lufthansa, KLM, Iberia, Swissair and Finnair.
Martin then moved into corporate finance and was responsible for investment appraisal and financial analysis for all hotel projects in EMEA. This was followed by a spell in strategy where he played a key role in the development and brand management of new Holiday Inn brand extensions and the redefinition of the brand essence and positioning for the Holiday Inn and Express brands. He then went on to become Vice President Development - Europe for IHG where he was responsible for almost $250 million worth of new hotel developments and his team signed over 90 franchise and management contracts in the two years under his leadership.
In April 2001 he moved to Westmont Hospitality Group as Senior Vice President Asset Management & Acquisitions where he is responsible for buying and selling hotel assets and overseeing the performance and investments in the current hotel portfolio in order to maximise returns. He played a key role in the acquisition of Queens Moat Houses Plc in 2004, a €1 billion hotel acquisition, and since then has overseen the asset management of the QMH portfolio.
Martin has a BSc Management and MA from Trinity College Dublin and a Masters in Financial Economics from the University of London, while he has also obtained diplomas in Accounting & Finance from the ACCA and International Finance from Boston University. |
