EXPO REAL expands again in 2007

  • More space – six halls totalling 63,000 m2 of exhibition space
  • More interest from central and eastern Europe, the Russian Federation and the Middle East
  • More end users

The 10th International Commercial Property Exposition, EXPO REAL 2007, is expanding again – this year by an entire exhibition hall. “Demand for space is so strong that in 2007 EXPO REAL will grow from five to six halls, to provide a total of 63,000 square metres of space,” explained Eugen Egetenmeir, a member of the Management Board of Messe München. The same happened in 2006, which was also a whole hall bigger than the previous event. Year-on-year that represents an increase in space of around 20 percent, while keeping the same, carefully delineated product range in the interests of the quality level of the event. The tenth EXPO REAL takes place from 8 to 10 October 2007 in Munich.

This growth is due mainly to strong international demand. Messe München expects that the space taken up by exhibitors from outside Germany will again expand by 30 percent. At the last EXPO REAL over one third of the total exhibition space was booked by foreign companies. In addition to exhibitors from Germany, France, Great Britain, the Netherlands and Spain, more and more companies from east and southeastern Europe and the Middle East were using EXPO REAL as a place to find investors for many of their real-estate projects.

Interest from the Russian Federation remains high. Moscow city and region, and the cities of St Petersburg and Ekaterinburg will be taking larger stands this year. And there is increased interest in participation from Russian project developers and financiers.

More and more countries, regions and locations are exploiting synergies in their presentation at the fair, and setting up a joint stand of exhibitors. Austria, the Netherlands, Italy and the Nordic Region, for example, have organised national pavilions for many years. Last year for the first time the Arabian Court took part, and the US pavilion has been expanding in size each year, since it was first set up in 2005.

Ever more end users of real estate, too, are identifying EXPO REAL as a platform for their expansion strategies and for making contacts in promising new markets. In 2007, for example, chainstores like Lidl, DM Drogeriemarkt, Obi, Toom Baumarkt, the REWE Group, Plus and Hornbach will all be exhibiting at the fair.
