Top expertise. SPECIAL REAL ESTATE FORUM and PLANNING & PARTNERSHIPS FORUM.

The program of conference events, which focuses on a variety of themes, has been one of the most important information exchanges for the commercial real-estate sector since the first EXPO REAL ten years ago. The SPECIAL REAL ESTATE FORUM will shed light on the diverse range of properties developed for specific uses. Experts from the market segments for office space, retail space, hotels, infrastructure and logistics will introduce their projects and present the market from their point of view, giving participants a competent look at the latest trends and the success strategies of the industry's movers and shakers. The PLANNING & PARTNERSHIPS FORUM will give participants a chance to discuss visions and reality in the sectors for facility management, architecture and urban development.

Faster than ever. Tough competition in the retail sector.

The pace of change in the retail sector is accelerating. The main reasons are tougher competition and ongoing market concentration. However, consumer behaviour is also becoming more difficult to predict. But this much is true: retail space is one of the most popular types of real estate. The year 2006 was the year of retail real estate, especially in Germany. Some 18 billion euros was invested in this segment. What makes retail real estate so appealing to investors? Will properties remain profitable in the long run? EXPO REAL will focus on this topic at the Retail Dialogue on Tuesday, October 9, 2007 (10:00 – 17:50 h). It is being held at the SPECIAL REAL ESTATE FORUM in Hall C3.

G-REITs arrive! Attractive new opportunities for the German market and investors.

The first Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) was introduced in the United States in 1960. However, it took until the early 1990s for the US REIT to really become interesting. Today, 25 countries around the world have introduced REIT structures – including Germany, albeit after lengthy debate. Introducing REITs in Germany was a difficult process. It required political compromises that did not go undisputed. What differences are there to the REITs in other countries?
