EXPO REAL 2007 holds Careers Day and – for the first time – a Jobs Forum

  • Careers Day for students and graduates on 10 October 2007 at EXPO REAL
  • Jobs Forum: 20 companies put on a presentation to budding entrants to the property profession

EXPO REAL is doing its bit for young entrants to the property business, by organising a Careers Day and – for the first time – a Jobs Forum. At this 10th International Commercial Property Exposition, students and graduates of property-related subjects can come along to the Careers Day, on Wednesday, 10 October 2007, to find out about career opportunities, further education and training, and to talk direct to companies in the industry. Exhibitors at EXPO REAL will be informing these future professionals about the career perspectives within their own companies.

The Careers Day starts at 10 a.m. on Wednesday in the PLANNING & PARTNERSHIPS FORUM (Hall C3), with a panel discussion on the subject of ‘Quality requirements of university graduates’. Taking part in the discussion are Jan Bettink, Chairman of BerlinHyp, Morten Hahn, Managing Partner of Dr Lübke Immobilien, Stephan Kugel, Managing Director of ECE Centermanagement, and Annette Thum, Principal Consultant at Oliver Wyman Delta Organization and Leadership.

Between 11 and 11.50 a.m. the subject will turn to the kind of qualifications needed for a successful career in the sector; the speakers here will be professors from the Universities of Weimar and Freiburg im Breisgau, Nürtingen College, the Berufsakademie Leipzig and the International Real Estate Business School (IREBS/ University of Regensburg). The title of this discussion is ‘First degrees and further qualifications in the property sector – BA, MSc, MBA’.

In the following session, from 12 to 12.50 p.m., professionals from the real estate industry will be passing on hints and tips from their many years of experience. They will be addressing questions such as: What risks are involved in starting up a business? What should a business plan look like? And: How can you survive the first period of low order intake? Answering all these questions on setting up in the property business will be people who have themselves already trodden this path and are now successfully established in the industry.

Next up is a presentation by twenty selected companies at the first Jobs Forum at EXPO REAL in the PLANNING & PARTNERSHIPS FORUM from 1 to 3 p.m. They offer graduates the chance of presenting themselves and gathering information on applications. Exhibitors who would like to take part can still register – contact: exhibitor@exporeal.net.

At EXPO REAL 2007 almost 40 universities, professional academies and further education institutions will be exhibiting at EXPO REAL, presenting their programmes and courses to prospective entrants to the property profession. At www.exporeal.net, the website of EXPO REAL, there is also a Jobs Corner, where exhibitors list open positions within their companies.

EXPO REAL student tickets are available on Tuesday, 8 October and Wednesday, 9 October 2007. They cost 85 euros, and can be obtained upon presentation of a valid student identity card at the ticket desks at the fair, or in advance from the University of Anhalt. Contact: Prof. Dr. Pauk, pauk@wi.hs-anhalt.de.
